CHIEF EXEC CONFIDENT FOR NEW SEASON

Brenda SpencerLatics Chief Executive Brenda Spencer has revealed how she expects a succesful year for the club.

Brenda spoke yesterday, at the Latics team photoshoot, about the fantastic feeling and the buzz of excitement that rings around the JJB Stadium.

"The two matches we've seen the players play in the league have been tremendous. I know we've got no points but we deserved to get something in both of them"

The chief Exec also expressed her delight at Sunday's performance against Chelsea and said that she has seen enough quality in the opening two games to make her believe that this year will be an exciting one for all the right reasons.
"I watched them play Chelsea on Sunday and you stand up there in the stands and get goosebumps because this is Chelsea, one of the big teams of the Premier League and we're playing them, Who would have thought that 5 or 6 years ago and then we play them man for man, it was terrific!"
She added, "This time we've got a really strong team with a premiership manager and backroom staff and hopefully we'll have a little bit of an easier ride this time. It's not the numbers, it's the quality you've got. We need to be creating chances and playing good football and we're doing exactly that!"
Brenda also admitted that until the Transfer Window closes, anything is possible.
"There's four days left of the transfer window. I feel quite good about the players that have come in. I've spoke this morning to the powers that be but you never know until 12 o'clock on Monday night, as last year proved when I went home and had to come back! If it's the right player and somebody Steve wants then the Chairman will always back the manager."
With a fresh band of players arriving at the JJB in the summer, Brenda picked out three players who she thinks will really make an impact this year.
"Wilson Palacios is creative, fast and enthusiastic in midfield, Lee Cattermole looks good and Amr Zaki looks tremendous up front and he'll get us goals which is perhaps what we need."
The head lady at the club believes that it's the team though, not individuals who will bring success this year. She added, "I think the team as a whole will be special, from the ones that have been here and just progressing to another season to the new ones who have come in, its a good feeling about the club, it's a good feeling in the dressing room and I do think we'll have a good season."
