ZakiUpbeat Zaki aims to maintain scoring streak at Hull
HULL CITY v LATICS
KC STADIUM
SATURDAY 30 AUGUST, 3.00PM
Full Match Commentary Live on Latics World from 2.45pm.
Latics new Egyptian striker Amr Zaki says he just lives to score goals, and wants to keep up his hot streak when the team take on Hull City on Saturday.
As well as the two goals in two games he score in pre-season, Zaki has now picked up two goals in his first three competitive games for Latics, one in the opener at West Ham, and another against Notts County in Tuesday's Carling Cup match.
He also looked extremely lively against Chelsea, only the brilliance of Peter Cech denying him a perfect start in English football.
He is happy enough with the start he has made but says in football, especially when you're a striker, you always have to look forwards.
"I love scoring," he said, "and I am happy that I have not had to wait long to score for my new club. But now I want to carry on.
"I don't fear anybody, that's just the way I am. So I go into every game I play with just one intention, to score. That's the best way for me to help the team, that's what I do best."
Zaki
Zaki says he is looking forward to the Hull trip.
"So far, English football has been everything I thought it would be, fast skilful and exciting and everyone at Wigan, and especially the supporters who keep chanting my name, have made me welcome. I want to repay them with goals!"
The Egyptian says he has been really impressed with the quality of the squad at Latics.
"With Emile Heskey and Henri Camara, you have two top international strikers, but there are good players everywhere, internationals, and I think the team will do well this season.
"In the league we have played really well but not got the results, that happens in football. We showed in the cup what we can do, so now it is just a case of keep playing the way we have been and the results in the league will start coming, hopefully on Saturday.
"Everyone has been so positive about the game, we are travelling with only one thing in our minds, to come away with three points and get the season really started."
