Henri Camara marked his return to the Latics line-up with a glistening performance, grabbing two goals and inspiring Latics to a convincing win.
Busy throughout you wondered at times whether his boots really were yellow or if his feet were on fire.
Linking up well with Emile Heskey and, in the second half, Amr Zaki, Camara showed his class terrorising the opposition defence all night and looking an instant threat with the ball.
His first goal since December '06 came on the half-hour mark, controlling a low Maynor Figueroa cross from the left and firing right-footed into the bottom right corner.
It sent Latics into the break on a high, and with the second half introduction of Amr Zaki they looked to strengthen their control on the game.
Along with the creative spark of Daniel de Ridder the two bossed the second half, winning the ball, keeping possession and carving out chances.
Zaki's efforts paid off on the hour-mark when Kevin Kilbane picked out the Egyptian's surge into the area and left him to tap in on the edge of the six-yard-box.
The goalscorer turned provider two minutes later when Latics caught Notts County napping and Zaki gained possession on the right just outside the area. His cross found Camara at the back post who headed home clinically.
It was left to debutant Tomasz Kupisz to round off a great night for Latics, receiving Zaki's ball down the left and passing past Hoult to send Steve Bruce's men cruising into the 3rd round.
