Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce admits the club will face a 'big decision' if they receive a serious offer for striker Emile Heskey in January.
The England international's current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and, on Friday, Bruce confirmed Heskey is not yet willing to begin talks over extending his deal.
Reports over the summer linked a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, with a move for the 30-year-old's signature, but Bruce has confirmed that there was no formal approach.
Bruce has, however, conceded he may have to consider accepting a big-money offer in the winter transfer window as they risk losing his services for free next summer.
£10million
He said: "That's when you need your chairman to understand the situation.
"If somebody's going to offer us £10million, for instance, in January, then I've got a decision to make.
"That certainly wasn't the case in the summer so there wasn't a decision to make.
"There's got to be a buyer and it's got to be an offer big enough to take away an England centre-forward in the middle of the season.
"It's a big, big decision to make on behalf of the club but one that you have to consider if it happens."
